Greetings!
Welcome to the mid-month, mini edition of our newsletter! There always seems to be so much news to share and so many dogs who need to tell you their stories...they are so much more than the photo you see...these dogs are often discarded on the side of the road or dumped in high-kill shelters, and somehow they beat the odds. And the odds against them are staggering. Thank you for joining us in the fight to find homes for these amazing dogs, and for always encouraging adoption and spay/neuter! Please help us promote these pups at your office, facebook, or anywhere else you can think of. We hope you enjoy this chance to "meet" some of our pups more closely, starting with Abigail! Sincerely, Molli Bowen Companion Pet Rescue & Transport

Abigail:
A Survivor Ready to Find Her Home
|
Abigail getting one of her first full meals!
|
Abigail was chained to a tiny, non-insulated plywood dog house and sat in the elements for about 4 years, with never enough food to eat. She survived rain, snow, ice, and blazing summer temperatures on that short chain. Her owner had also never taken her to the vet. Sadly, Jackson, TN (like many other cities in the south) has no Animal Cruelty Investigator, so nothing was ever done to save her from this fate. One of our volunteers finally convinced her owner to surrender her, after much begging, so she could get the care she needed. Abigail was heartworm positive, and we could count every rib, as well as every vertebrae in her spine. However, her spirit was not broken - she went from sad to wagging in just a very few days. It's amazing just how far a little love and food can go!
Abigail is a whole new dog now, but she will always have a special gratefulness about her new chance for a loved life. She has been fostered by Katherine for a couple of months now getting her ready for adoption - she is eager for a home of her own and she loves children! She walks well on a leash, is great in the car and is fully housetrained. Abigail is about 35 pounds - a perfect compact medium size. She's been fully treated for heartworms and is a happy, healthy girl! She would be the absolute perfect walking partner. We hope you'll help us find Abigail a great home! If interested in adoption, please apply at www.cprdogs.com - filling out the application helps us see if you're the right match and if so, we can put you in touch with her foster mom to learn all about her!

Happy Adoption Update: Jacoby
|
Adopter Gretchen writes: Jacoby (first known as Bear) came to The Siano Family after my daughter Kyra petitioned for a dog for over a year. As an animal lover and mini-activist, adoption was the only choice for us! My rapport with Molli through the entire adoption and question process made me feel at ease, since adopting 'blindly' CAN be a huge leap of faith! Molli's commitment and the stories and referrals I got confirmed that CPR was legit and doing everything the right way. When the (as I call it) Rolls-Royce of transport trailers pulled up in CT, it was obvious these dogs are loved and taken care of, and that someone has gone through GREAT work to get them from TN to new owners in New England! Every person there (men, women, kids, old, young, single people, and families) cried as dogs were united with their new families. It was great to be part of such a worthwhile and touching start to all these new lives! Jacoby remains a spirited dog and will turn 3 this April. :) We work with a trainer regularly and attend doggie daycare to keep him tired out and on-track, along with vet visits, trips to the dog park, long walks, and all the rest. Owning a dog has been a huge lesson in responsibility for all of us, but has been rewarding as well, when we think about what would have happened to him if we didn't take him in. A dog adds work and commitment to your life and shouldn't be taken lightly, so it has been a great lesson for our kids as we try to involve them in the process. But, a dog also adds another level of love to a family as well... and being greeted with a cute face in the doorway holding one of his many favorite stuffed bunnies every time we arrive home reminds us that we have given a dog a chance and that's all that we can all really ask for in life!

Do you have a special dog lover you'd like to honor?
For your donation of $100, we'll let you name a recently rescued pup and we'll put in the pup's post on the website that the pup is sponsored by you, with details of the sponsorship.
Big thanks to Theresa Quinn for being our first sponsor! We just had to name "her" pup Quinn as a fitting tribute, and we hope you'll check him out!
Please email mollibo@gmail.com to get started!
