2013 National Conference
We, the National Office, extend our sincere thanks to all attendees, speakers, and sponsors for helping to make the World Affairs Councils of America's 2013 National Conference a great success. Held at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel in Washington, DC, this year's Conference focused on the Six Top Issues for 2014: Cybersecurity; U.S. Energy Independence; Global Economic Realignment; Middle East; Global Environment Issues; and K-12 Education. We look forward to Council programs nationwide on these key topics.
We also want to give you the opportunity to let us know what aspects went well and appealed to you most, and what areas for improvement deserve our attention. Our newest national program series focusing on human trafficking and modern-day slavery continues. The program features screenings of the documentary film Not My Life by Robert Bilheimer and Worldwide Documentaries at over 35 World Affairs Councils. Spotlight on Turkey 2013
The Spotlight on Turkey program, sponsored by the World Affairs Councils of America and the Turkish Cultural Foundation, has entered Phase III of the 2013 program. Participating councils will be holding programs throughout the fall showcasing Turkish art, culture, and cuisine. More Information

CONTEXT: The Future of American Warfare: The Rise of Special Ops
Linda Robinson is a senior international policy analyst at RAND. She has been an adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and Public Policy Scholar at the Wilson Center. She has conducted field research on special operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Latin America, and elsewhere over the past twelve years. Robinson's newest book is One Hundred Victories: Special Ops and the Future of American Warfare.
