Screenwriters and Novelists: To set a forest on fire, you light a match. To set a character on fire, you put him/her in conflict.
Whether you've watched The Godfather, The Wizard of Oz or A Christmas Carol, you've escaped into a story where the main character is put to a test. Watching what they will do under dire circumstances keeps you riveted, right? The premise of a story is the simple statement of what happens to the characters as the result of the core conflict in the story. Learn how to build a premise that is clear and concise.
All writers are welcome (beginner to professional, ages 18 - 95) and all genres are welcome (fiction, non-fiction, screenplays, children's books and poetry.) The workshops are open to the public and are $30 per person for a 2-hour session. Bring a friend! We meet second Saturdays in the private room at the Great Northern Panera.
