CEO x 1 Day Deadline Extended

International Week is a new initiative to celebrate diversity at King's and Western, and explore international opportunities and programs. Events are free and open to students, faculty and staff. There will be cultural experiences, panel discussions, presentations, workshops, displays, tours and other activities designed to inspire students, faculty and staff to build their cross-cultural skills and become more globally aware. Critical Reading Workshops
Ten minutes can save you ten hours! Try a "Getting Started" workshop, brought to you by The Write Place! Join us for a fifteen minute workshop every Monday and Tuesday at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. & 3 p.m. in Study Rooms F and C. Each workshop will focus on a different aspect of critical reading, including Reading for Analysis, Keys to Course Reading; and Reading Research for Essays. For more information, email Brenda. Improve your reading comprehension and analysis by learning strategies for reading more effectively and applying critical thinking skills to course and research materials. Full-time OSAP Student Income Update
All Full-Time OSAP students are required to re-confirm the income amounts reported on their OSAP application. It is requested that you do this as soon as possible and no later than Dec. 6th, 2013 or you may experience a delay with the release of your January OSAP funding. OSAP has been/will be sending out information regarding this step as well, either through email or mail, depending on the correspondence option you chose.
Please keep in mind that your incomes, as reported on OSAP, are verified with the Canada Revenue Agency. As such, it is important to ensure that your income is reported correctly to avoid any future funding issues. Please remember if you update your study period income amounts, you may also need to update the 'Total 2013 Income' section.
To update your income online, log into the OSAP website, go to your 2013-2014 application, and click "Update Income." Review the income information, make the appropriate changes as necessary, and click "Submit".
Students that have indicated they would like OSAP to mail their documents or have submitted a paper OSAP application will be mailed a paper Income Update form. Please complete and return to Student Financial Services at King's, Rm 144 Wemple.
Students needing to update Scholarship/Bursary/Award amounts on their OSAP application will need to come into the Student Financial Services at King's with their SIN card and valid Government Issued Photo I.D. as this category cannot be updated online. For those students who have received a King's Entrance or Continuing Scholarship and the $500 Enhancement, it is your responsibility to report the Scholarship portion only. King's will report the $500 Enhancement to the Ministry on your behalf.You will need to complete an "OSAP On-Line Change Form" to update this section. This form is available from Student Financial Services or the King's website under the OSAP section on "Money Matters".

COU student contest in mental health
The Council of Ontario Universities has launched a new competition that asks university students how they would use social media to promote social change in mental health on campus, in an effort to get students talking about mental health and to break down stigmas. The Mental Health 2.0 competition is open to individuals or teams, who will submit social media campaign plans for a chance to win prizes of $1,500 for first place, $1,000 for second place, and $500 for third place. The contest, which is funded by the Ontario government, is open until Nov. 29 and winners will be announced in March.

Preparing you for your career
Career Directions Fair
Thinking of pursuing a health or sports-related career in areas such as medicine, physical/occupational therapy, global health, chiropractic, etc.? Come out to the Faculty of Health Sciences Annual Career Directions Fair on Nov. 6th from 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the Great Hall of Somerville House, Western. Students can learn about professional and college programs (both in Ontario and overseas), network with potential employers, and explore volunteer opportunities with non-profit organizations. More than 35 organizations are participating.
B2B: Dining Etiquette
All students and alumni are invited to attend this dining etiquette event on Nov. 7th from 5 - 8 p.m. at Aroma, 717 Richmond Street.
This interactive dinner will walk you through general etiquette practice with a focus on table manners and the finer points of formal dining. Bring your appetite and your sense of humour. This etiquette boot camp is guaranteed to get you into shape!
Dinner begins at 5:00 p.m. Complimentary return transportation to Aroma will be provided to guests of the event leaving Alumni Hall, Western, at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance. Click here for tickets.
