Well, hello there Fall - it's nice of you to join us again! The past month we made the most of the warmer weather; we managed to get outdoors to enjoy the remaining events of the summer season through various walks, park & splash pad dates and Busy Town adventures. Now as we journey into Fall, we are geared up with a full calendar full of fun, Fall themed events. If you haven't already, head on over and sign-up for some of the various upcoming events. What's Cooking?
 Glazed Fall Vegetable Medley
Ingredients:
2 sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 medium russet potato, peeled and cubed
1 medium acorn squash, halved, peeled and seeded
3 carrots, cut into 1/2 inch slices
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp. maple syrup
2 Tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
salt to taste
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Combine the veggies in a large bowl.
Combine the other ingredients in a small bowl and mix together.
Pour the topping over the vegetables and toss well.
Place everything in a lightly greased roasting pan and bake for approximately 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes or so.
A great side dish for a casual night or for company! |

Family Craft Corner
 Bat Craft
A handprint bat craft for A A handprint bat craft everyone...yes, mommies, daddies and granparents can do this, too!
What you need:
black or brown construction paper
glue
a pair of hands
scissors
google eyes (optional)
What to Do:
Trace a pair of hands and cut them out.
Cut out a body and a head. You might need to help with these depending on the age of your child.
Glue the bat together.
Glue on some google eyes of any size. Get creative and make as many as you want... Once done you can hang them in your windows to "scare" the neighbours! |
