Yuma, Arizona - On Tuesday, August 17, 2010
at 12:30 PM, the Yuma Police received a report of an attempted
kidnapping.
The investigation revealed a 33 year old female was walking on 28th
Street near Avenue B. She reported she was approached by the
Hispanic male who asked her if she needed a ride. After she
refused, the male attempted to pull her into the van. The victim
received minor abrasions during the scuffle, but was able to get
away and the suspect fled scene.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 40's, 5'10, thick
build with slick backed black hair and a goatee. He was last seen
wearing sunglasses, a diamond stud earring in his right ear, white
shirt with grease spots, dark carpenter style pants, dark shoes
with blue laces and spoke in broken English.
The vehicle was described as a white older model full-sized van
with a side door. The van had no side or rear windows, rust and
repair or "Bondo" type spots. It possibly had a Mexico license
plate.
There was at least one witness who honked their car horn during the
incident that remains unidentified. We strongly encourage this
witness to contact the Yuma Police Department and encourage anybody
with information about this case to please call (928)
373-4700 or 78-CRIME to remain
anonymous.
