New Patent Announcement
The Office of Technology Development was recently notified that the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office has issued a patent to Florida Atlantic University for Systems and Methods for Irrigation Monitoring and Leak Detection. The technology is a wireless system that can measure the flow of liquids within an irrigation network and automatically detect issues such as leaks. The FAU inventors named on the patent are Jason Hallstrom, Ph.D., professor and director, Jiannan Zhai, Ph.D., chief engineer, Chancey Kelly, computer engineer, all of of FAU's Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems Engineering, and former students Drew van Zwieten, MIchael Brown and Don Salamon. Team Earns UCDA Awards
The University and College Designers Association (UCDA) recently held their Design Awards Competition where they recognize the best design and creative work from educational institutions worldwide. Florida Atlantic Research Communications team members Cammi Clark, Ph.D., senior director, Kasia Bytnar and Paige Arriola, both assistant directors of multimedia, recently earned two awards from UCDA for the Science in Seconds video series launched in the fall of 2023 and the Science Behind the Photo video series.
