Week of November 11-17, 2024

From the President

This month of “All Souls” reminds that our passing from earthly life to eternal life is a somber message, but a real one.  It is also one we can embrace in faith and hope. This Sunday the Alumni Association will host their annual Memorial Mass, an occasion to remember deceased students and alumni, faculty and staff.  We are aware of 33 graduates or former staff who died this past year. At the same time, we continue to pray for all whose names were submitted for this month’s prayers and novena of Masses. Please join us in those prayers. On a practical level, while we try to keep track of the deaths of alumni and their parents, this is becoming much more challenging as fewer people post obituaries. If you learn of the death of a graduate or a parent please do not presume the school knows, and send that information to Mr. Greg Loftus in the Alumni Office (gloftus@archbishopcurley.org).  We appreciate that help.

From the Principal

Recently, I received a call from another high school principal complimenting our students for the way they carry themselves and represent the ideals of the school. It was a very nice call to receive! We encourage and expect our students to be Curley Gentlemen and to hold themselves to that standard inside and outside of school. It is true that they…and we…don’t always succeed in that, but more often than not they answer that call. They receive a lot of messages in society and on social media that contradict what we espouse at Curley. As they navigate those rough waters, I pray that they will always be able to stand on the foundation of the lessons learned at Curley.

We believe that our students are capable of being great men. We have a series of Belief Statements that outline exactly what that means: https://www.archbishopcurley.org/about/mission/

This is certainly something we work on together. Thank you for allowing us to be part of that with you and your family.

From the College Counseling Office

Attention Class of 2025 Parents

To prepare for the opening of the FAFSA, families can go HERE and create an FSA ID now. The student needs an FSA ID and the parent needs their own FSA ID. FAFSA is anticipated to open on December 1, but you don't need to wait until December 1 to create an FSA ID, you can do so now. Please also check if your student applied to a school that requires the CSS profile. A list of those schools can be found HERE. That application is open and you should be working to fill it out.

Seniors with a November 15 deadline should have submitted their applications. As of today, 78% of seniors have submitted applications to four year colleges/universities! Please make sure they mark it in SCOIR when they have applied so we send the additional materials. All students are encouraged to see their college counselor if they need any help.
