"Now more than ever, we must hold ourselves accountable to being there for one another—not despite our grief and the outcomes of our political process, but because of it. Because we need each other to ensure our sisters, friends, neighbors, the Korean lady at the corner store, the Haitian refugee next door, the immigrants building our clean energy infrastructure, and the young person down the block fighting to protect our air, water, and rights, are right here with us. Our fight for environmental justice is inseparable from our fight for true democracy. Today, we say no to any future where our rights and our planet’s health are compromised. To love our communities means we must build in spite of the forces that mean to destroy, and New York’s young leaders and environmental warriors are here to reclaim our power, to protect our communities, and to demand a just, resilient future for us all."

-Nyiesha Mallet, Youth Organizer, UPROSE

Beloved Community,

As our city faces a declared drought emergency and wildfires sweep through the region, the unseasonable reality of 70-degree days in November serves as a stark reminder of the climate crisis and the urgency of our work.

Here in Sunset Park, UPROSE remains steadfast in ensuring that the communities most impacted by the climate crisis have a voice in shaping its solutions. Beyond addressing environmental issues, we are working tirelessly to build a fairer, more equitable future for people and the planet.

Today, I invite you to join us in this critical work. By making a donation, you will directly support initiatives that:

  • Provide frontline communities with resources to combat climate change.
  • Advocate for local policies that center sustainability & equity.
  • Bring in artists to create educational tools & curricula that foster climate resilience

Your contribution—no matter the size—will help us anchor these efforts and fuel this movement. As a token of our gratitude, we will recognize supporters as “Madrinas" and "Padrinos" of UPROSE. Here’s how your donation can make an impact:

  • $50 supports climate education in local schools.
  • $100 funds native plant & tree-planting initiatives in areas vulnerable to extreme heat.
  • $500 sponsors intergenerational leadership training for future climate leaders.
  • $1000 provides stipends for climate justice youth organizers.

Every donation makes a difference, and together, we can tackle the complex challenges of our time. Giving is easy—simply click here. Your donation will support the work of a nationally recognized grassroots organization approaching its 60th anniversary, while also giving you access to our briefings, trainings, dance classes, and more.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to strengthen social cohesion and advance climate justice. With your help, we can grow this movement and create a sustainable, equitable future for all.

If you have any questions or want to learn more, please don’t hesitate to reach out at 718-492-9307.

Together, we can create a brighter tomorrow.

In solidarity and gratitude,

Elizabeth Yeampierre and the UPROSE team
