Dear Bald Head Association Members,

As we enter the month of December, I would like to report to the Membership how our search for a new Executive Director is advancing. Our Committee consists of 5 individuals:  Myself, Board Vice President Elizabeth Robinson, Board Member Steven Smalley, Member Suzanne O’Bryant, Member Slaughter Fitz-Hugh, and Ex Officio Interim Executive Director Russ Curtis. We secured the firm Kopplin Kuebler & Wallace working directly with Partner, Kurt Kuebler and Search & Consulting Executive, Brad Baecht. Our status as I write this letter is an approved position profile that has been released to potential candidates and the Search Committee awaits recommendations from Kopplin, Kuebler & Wallace in December. We should receive an update from Brad Baecht within the next two weeks and the Search Committee looks forward to meeting and interviewing potential candidates. In the meantime, we have been fortunate to have found an amazing Interim Executive Director in Russ Curtis and we are grateful for his hard work and dedication to the BHA. Russ’s leadership has brought a welcomed calm while we work hard to fill open positions within the BHA.

Additionally, BHA has recently selected Maura Wild as our new ARC Specialist and we are glad to have her on the Team! Another selection has been made in Allison Heafner, who will serve as an ARC Administrative Assistant and join us in the next 10 days. And the final vacancy for ARC Administrative Assistant is in the selection process and expected to be announced soon. Thank you for your support during this time of staff selections and onboarding.

I would like to wish each and every Member the happiest of Holidays and I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.

Christine Osborne

President, Bald Head Association

Next Board Meeting 11/22/24

Did you know BHA Board Meetings have a public session that is open to all members? They are an excellent way to learn firsthand what's going on within your HOA. This forum allows members to ask questions and voice comments.

Meetings are held both in person and via Zoom - the link is on our website and below. Once in the meeting, online participants can enter questions or comments or ask to speak through the Chat feature. Written statements will be read at the meeting. If there are questions of a similar nature, they will be combined. The public forum will be recorded and posted on the website. The next meetings are 11/22/24 and 12/20/24 (note date change for December) at 9:30am in BHA's Association Center (111 Lighthouse Wynd) or join meeting with the Zoom link.

Changes to

Ferry Schedule

In February 2024, Bald Head Island Transportation (BHIT) filed an application with the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) to revise the passenger ferry schedules to improve the on-time performance of its passenger ferry service. The application proposed to move from the current 30 minute one way/60 minute round trip to a 45 minute one way/90 minute round trip schedule. Link below for the most recent information regarding the ferry schedules effective December 1.
