Dean's Resilience Scholarship

Kaitlan Vang is working towards her OTD degree. She will graduate in 2025.

"I am immensely honored to be a recipient of the SHS Dean’s Resilience Scholarship. As a first-generation student growing up in Stockton, I was well aware of University of the Pacific and knew that it has always been a leading powerhouse in nurturing future healthcare professionals. Pacific was easily my first choice among the programs I applied to.

I chose this career path to pay it forward to young children who have had life experiences similar to mine. From a very young age, hospital visits become second nature to me. However, after 18 years of checkups to monitor my progress due to my injuries, the appointments today are still as daunting as the first.

Because of my experience, I hope to lessen the load on children who have experienced life-changing events. I aim to bridge the gap between healthcare professionals and patients by providing client-centered care.

Pacific's Occupational Therapy program has laid the foundation for me to nurture these skills. I cannot express how thankful I am to have been blessed with the support of my faculty and cohort."

The 2023-24 Dean's Transformative Resilience Scholarships were awarded in the fall of 2023. Please consider making a gift to the Dean's Scholarship Fund so that we can continue to transform the lives of our students.
