SPS honors this year's retirees 

The district’s longest-serving teacher, Orca K-8's Marletta Iwasyk, says ‘farewell’ after 56 years of service to SPS. She is among more than 100 district employees who have reached the pinnacle of their professional journeys: retirement.

Bridging the Gap The BRIDGES Program provides learning opportunities to young adults ages 18-21 with disabilities to meet their own goals after high school.

Standing Proud SPS is celebrating Pride Month. LGBTQIA+ students, staff, families, and allies are invited to march with SPS in Seattle's annual Pride Parade on June 30.

Have a Great Summer The last day of school is Friday, June 21. All schools will release one-hour early. School will resume Sept. 4 for 1st–12th graders and Sept. 9 for preschool and kindergarteners. Find other key dates for the 2024-25 school year on our website. 

Free at Last! Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when those who were still enslaved in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free. All schools and the central office will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in observance.

Start Them Young The Seattle Preschool Program and Head Start are accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year. 

Join a Skills Center Summer Class! Current 8th through 11th grade students can enjoy hands-on, three-week classes at the Seattle Skills Center. 

Crack the Code Bellevue College and Coding with Kids are partnering to offer scholarship-based coding camps to middle and high school students this summer. 

Logging Off SPS student devices will need to be returned before the end of the school year.

Senior Season Graduation season is upon us! Find the date and time for commencement ceremonies for each high school.  

Talk to Me Are you bilingual and interested in the ethics, philosophy, and practice of interpreting and translating? Join the Skills Center Translation and Interpretation class at Franklin High School this summer. 

Work the Case SPS middle schoolers can sign up for the Seattle Police Crime Solvers Youth Camp, a free, hands-on learning experience where campers investigate a criminal case from start to finish! 

Be Smart with Gun Safety Kids and unsecured guns are a potentially lethal combination. Be sure to store all firearms locked, unloaded, and separate from ammunition.
