Curley Family Weekly Bulletin

Weeks of April 1-14, 2024

See below to find out what is happening at Curley!

From the President

Post-Gala I would like to thank everyone once again for their support of the spring raffle and the Gala. Both were very successful events, and the proceeds go back to this year’s operating budget, so all of our Curley students and faculty benefit. Next year will be the thirtieth annual Gala.

I would also like to commend the members of the senior class, and the Schola, for the finely presented Way of the Cross. It is a powerful way to celebrate Holy Week and prepare for Easter, and is one of the Curley traditions I really appreciate.

Lastly, my prayers and wishes for you and your family to have a blessed Easter, and an enjoyable Easter holiday. When we return the remainder of the school year will seem to fly by!

-- Fr. Donald '70

From the Principal

As we move into Easter Week, I pray that this season is one of joy for you and your family. May the love of Jesus Christ fill your heart and home.

This holiday certainly brings some time for our students, faculty, and staff for some rest before moving into the final two months of the school year. When we return to school on April 8th, we will be squarely in the final quarter of the year.

There will not be a Bulletin next week during Easter Week, so here are some notes for the weeks ahead:

  • The Spring Dress Code is in effect beginning on April 8th. Sport Coats are not required starting on that day.
  • 3rd Quarter report cards will be available on April 9th.
  • The re-registration deadline is April 10th.

Archbishop's Holiday

When Archbishop Lori celebrated Ash Wednesday liturgy with us, he generously gave Archbishop Curley High School an “Archbishop’s Holiday.” He stated that the specific day off would be determined by the school’s administration. Therefore, Monday, April 22, 2024, will be a holiday. There will be no classes that day and the offices will be closed. Athletic events will proceed as scheduled.

Gala Thank You!

I would like to extend a THANK YOU to all the parents that helped to make Gala XXIX a huge success! While we are still finalizing totals, it looks as though the event will be one of our higher grossing Galas. A special thank you to…

  • the parents that donated gifts! Over one third of the 720 gifts on the auction were from class registry donations.
  • the parents that volunteered to pack and set up on Friday! We packed the truck, Curley bus, and many cars in under an hour.
  • the parents that volunteered Saturday night! The event was seamless, and I appreciate your work and attention to detail to make that happen.
  • the parents that attended the event! We certainly hope you had a good time and we appreciate your continued commitment to Curley.

Our young men of Curley also shined on Saturday evening and I received many compliments from our guests. They looked sharp, were poised, kind, and polite. They worked hard! I am grateful to them too.

A reminder that the freshmen class will receive both a pizza lunch and dress down day after Spring Break. A date will be shared soon.

Please know that this event certainly takes a village, and I am so proud to have you all as part of mine!

Technology Program Updates and Links

As a reminder, Archbishop Curley High School will be initiating a Bring Your Own Windows Device (BYOWD) program for all incoming freshmen in the Class of 2028. We will also begin to phase out the current iPad Program. For all returning students in the Classes of 2025, 2026, and 2027, this will not affect your ability to utilize your iPad or require you to purchase a different device. Your son will be able to continue with his iPad for the remainder of his academic career at Archbishop Curley High School.

Under the BYOWD initiative, members of the Class of 2028 are required to bring their own Windows-based laptops to school. Students in the Classes of 2025, 2026, and 2027, may choose (but will not be required) to bring their own Windows device to school starting in the fall. A flier with all of the specifications can be found HERE

Curley has partnered with Whiteford Systems as our school's designated vendor. If you wish to order a device through them, then please note that the ordering portal is now open: https://whitefordsystems.com/curley. This portal closes on April 30th.

Additionally, based on the feedback and inquiries we received, we are announcing that we have included a touchscreen option for the higher-end model. While a touchscreen is not mandatory, we are committed to offering our students a wide range of options to enhance their learning experience. This feature allows students the flexibility to take notes directly on the screen, among other functionalities, should they prefer.

Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to our Technology department at support@archbishopcurley.org.
