February 21, 2024 - Issue 27

Good evening!

Wow! Isn't this spring-like weather a real treat? I hope you are taking advantage of every opportunity to step outside and get a breath of fresh air. It is always good to take a break and experience a fresh perspective on things.

As we approach the end of February, I want to remind those who have not registered for the 2024-2025 school year, to please do so this week. Last Friday was the deadline and we already have students wishing to transfer to EC for next year. Please secure your student's spot today!

We are already in the second week of Lent. Our Panthers will hit the road this Friday, with their first presentation of the Living Stations of the Cross at St. Ladislas Church in Westlake. Be sure to plan to attend one of their presentations this Lent. Close by at St. Mary Parish in Elyria, Tetélestai - "It Is Finished," a musical portrayal of the trial, execution, and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah will take place this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. For more information visit stmaryelyria.org.

Enjoy the rest of the week, Panthers, and keep the ripple going!

Beyond the Panther Classroom

Panthers in the Community

Our students volunteered at the Lorain County Historical Society Valentine's Tea on February 11. Pictured in top left photo are Lauren Riddell, Sophia and Isabella Niederst, Natalia Dyson, Samantha Jennings, Veronica Duffy, and Bryn Miserandino. In the top right photo pictured with Chair of the Tea, Jackie Kokai, are Veronica Duffy, Anna Wallace, and Jenna Roztas. This is an annual event that our Panthers look forward to lending a hand. Thank you, Panthers, for making a difference in the community.

Cultural Curiosity Series

On February 15, Dr. Raquel Ortiz (mother of sophomore student, Cesar-Roman Samot), helped EC celebrate Black History Month by presenting about Afro-Puerto Rican culture at our 3rd Cultural Curiosity event. She focused her presentation on the historical mixing of Black and Puerto Rican cultures and specifically discussed the role of Bomba music in Puerto Rico. Over 30 students attended the event and were surprised with Afro-Puerto Rican food from Rainbow's Bakery in Lorain at the end of the presentation! Thank you, Dr. Ortiz, for sharing your knowledge and time.
