Mayor and Council New Year’s Levee

Join the Mayor and Council for the New Year’s Levee at the ROC on Saturday, Jan. 13. At 9 a.m., enjoy a free pancake and sausage breakfast, cooked by Enbridge Gas Distribution Service, and served by the Mayor and Members of Council, while quantities last. From 10 a.m. to noon, guests will receive an all-access lift pass for the ROC (no reservation required) for free tubing, skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing. Bring your own equipment or rent equipment from the ROC rental shop.

2024 SnoFest

Warm up your winter with some frosty fun for all ages. Join us for SnoFest at the ROC on Feb. 3 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Enjoy live performances, entertainment, activities, games, an igloo dance party and spectacular fireworks show at 6 p.m. It’s going to be snow much fun for the whole family.

Waste calendar and Christmas tree pickup

Did you receive your copy of the 2024 Waste and Recycling calendar? You can view and download a copy online at georgina.ca/WasteandRecycling. The larger format printed 28-page booklet-style calendar is available for pick up at the Civic Centre, the Link, the Stephen Leacock Theatre of Performing Arts and all three branches of Georgina Public Library while supplies last. Christmas tree pickup is the week of Jan. 8. Residents are asked to remove all decorations, nails, tree stands and plastic tree bags. The maximum size is six feet or 1.8 metres. If your tree is larger, cut it into pieces.

Pefferlaw Ice Pad

The PIP is open!

Time to lace up the skates! The Pefferlaw Ice Pad (PIP) is open. The PIP is an unsupervised ice pad. Use at your own risk. We ask everyone to be respectful of one another. Before you visit, be sure to review the rules of etiquette of play and follow the daily schedule.

Winter operations

Winter has arrived. The Town is committed to providing a consistent level of snow removal service throughout the winter season. Using a combination of Town staff and contractors, plowing, sanding and salting is performed each winter with consideration to safety, environmental and budgetary concerns. The Town's online winter operations tracker is live. It allows residents to see where the snowplows are during snow clearing. Keep the roads and sidewalks clear. Winter parking restrictions are in effect until April 15, meaning no parking between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.

Stormwater ponds

With colder temperatures, a reminder that stormwater ponds will freeze and they are not to be used as skating rinks. They are not intended or designed for recreational use as water levels can change rapidly and create unsafe conditions. This is extremely dangerous and poses many safety risks for residents.
