We are less than a week from the FIFA 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand!
It is hard to believe that it has been four years since France hosted the last edition and the US took home the title of World Champions and the prestige of back-to-back titles. Since then we have seen our Canadian women take Olympic Gold and with that truly established ourselves as a world-leading program on the field. While a lot of media attention has been spent on the off-field issues it is essential that as club leaders, coaches, parents and supporters we don't lose sight of the impact these world superstars have on the next generation of players.
Our female players bring us constant joy with their performances on the field and their energy off it while PFC Coaches are regularly going that extra mile to develop an incredible new generation of young girls and women that will take our sport to a new level. We wanted to share two powerful pieces of media with you that came across our desk this week.
The first is from Loshi, a mother of a U10 Girl in our Grassroots program who shared with her head coach that, 'A year ago, Jyothi never even thought she could play soccer, it's been an amazing journey to watch her grow with Coach Steve and yourself'. Coach Kyra who leads the program was rightly proud to share this comment because Jyothi is one of many players loving her soccer because the coaches have created a positive, healthy environment. In fact, Jyothi was invited to be part of a TV car commercial that you will see a lot of this summer. Enjoy taking a look:
Toyota Canada on Instagram: “Toyota stands tall with girls and their soccer ambitions. Join us in supporting @CanadaSoccer’s Women’s National Team.”
