Justice & Joy! A Black Maternal Health Week Celebration

Join the California Black Birth Equity Summit, California Coalition for Black Birth Justice, and Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP) on April 15 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm PDT as we celebrate Black Maternal Health Week at the annual AMCHP conference. Rest and Revive With The California Black Birth Equity Summit: A Virtual Event

Black birth justice advocates, birthworkers, and Black families are invited to join the Summit on April 11 from 12:00 - 1:30 pm PDT via Zoom for a restorative afternoon of yoga, breathwork, movement, storytelling, sound healing, and networking. Attendees will have the opportunity to select two 30-minute wellness breakout sessions, on topics such as sound healing and pelvic floor health.

HOPE THRIVE is Enrolling Participants

The Transforming Health and Reducing PerInatal Anxiety through Virtual Engagement (HOPE THRIVE) study focuses on assessing whether use of digital cognitive behavioral therapy (dCBT) can help reduce symptoms of anxiety in pregnant women and expecting mothers who are experiencing significant difficulty. HOPE THRIVE is nested within the Healthy Outcomes of Pregnancy for Everyone (HOPE) Research Consortium.

Seeking Black Caregivers to Complete an Interview

The Center and Care study hopes to interview 20 Black caregivers who have had preterm infants in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in the Bay Area in order to gain family perspectives about how the medical system and our society can best support the long-term health of Black preterm infants. You are eligible if you were the Black caregiver of a child born before 35 weeks gestation and the child was admitted to a Bay Area NICU. Family who complete an interview will receive a $100 gift card.

It's Black Maternal Health Week


Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) is an annual observance from April 11 to 17 founded and led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance​ to build awareness, activism, and community-building​ to amplify ​the voices, perspectives, and lived experiences of Black mamas and birthing people. The theme for #BMHW24​ is:

"Our Bodies STILL Belong to Us: Reproductive Justice NOW!” Widespread restrictions on abortion care access coupled with rising cases of criminalization due to pregnancy loss continue to widen the gaps of adverse maternal and birth outcomes in the U.S.

The Pathways Fellowship Program is Accepting Applications Until April 5

The California Pathways into Public Health (Pathways) Fellowship Program seeks applicants who are interested in long-term careers working in public health. Applicants must demonstrate flexibility, social and cultural inclusiveness, and a desire to be of service. Fellowship applicants should be willing to work in any area of public health and should be interested in gaining broad public health skills.

Pregnancy Pop-Up Village Kicks Off BMHW

The next pop-up is on Saturday, April 13 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Southeast Community Center (SECC). The monthly event welcomes families, pregnant people, and anyone who is interested to celebrate in community, engage in self-care, get valuable resources and services, and more.
