New Americorps video features faculty research project
Through research grants, AmeriCorps funds participatory research to engage communities to problem solve and produce more meaningful and impactful research. One of these projects is Associate Professor Mary Ohmer's Research for Equity and Power (REP), a joint project of the Homewood Children’s Village and the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work. Doctoral students to present at APM
Doctoral students Laurenia Mangum and Ana Flores will be leading a panel entitled "Reimagining Cultural Consciousness: Enhancing Doctoral Education for Underrepresented Racially Diverse Students" at this year's CSWE annual program meeting November 4-7.
Alumna spoke at annual summit
MSW alumna Anette Nance's impact talk titled “If Not Now, When?” was used for The Network of Social Work Mangers’ Inaugural Forward Thinking Summit. She spoke about how social work leaders can gain skills to enhance leadership skills for successful long-term outcomes. Drawing inspiration from anecdotal life experiences and expounding on key terms such as authenticity, initiative, and service. The talk is still available on replay for registered attendees.
Alumnus named Executive Director
MSW alumnus Joseph Mahoney was named Executive Director of the Ellen O’Brien Gaiser Center. Mahoney is a licensed social worker who comes to the Gaiser Center from Intermediate Unit 1 where he was the Director of Mental/Behavioral Health and Social Work Services for school districts and communities in Washington, Greene, and Fayette counties. Obituary: Gloria G. (Dattilo) Gugliotta
Gloria G. Dattilo Gugliotta was born November 3, 1927, in Pittsburgh, and passed away in her 94th year of life Friday, May 28, 2021. The daughter of Italian immigrants, she earned a B.S. degree in Psychology and Sociology and a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. Read more.
