Students Head Back To School In Style With Free Backpacks, Supplies

Back to school they go! Councilman Hector Gutierrez (Ward 3) and Councilwoman Latresa Akins-Wells (Ward 4) each hosted a signature community event for hundreds of Clayton County students in preparation for the new academic school year. Items given away included free bookbags, crayons, notebooks, markers and much more. A big kudos and thank you goes out to our incredible community partners for helping to making both events such a tremendous success.

Forest Park Residents Go "Off The Rails" In First-Ever City Trolley Tour 

All aboard. Residents of Forest Park aboard the trolley had the chance to go “off the rails” for the first time with the city’s new guided tour. The ride is a peek into the community’s history and current developments. Some of the main stops along the tour included Gillem Logistics Center, BlueStar Studios and the State Farmers Market. Mayor Butler Partners With City Of Lovejoy For Walk With The Mayor Series

Working together to promote the importance and positive benefits of physical exercise. Last month, Forest Park Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA, teamed up with City of Lovejoy Mayor Marci Fluellyn for another edition of GirlTrek's Walk with the Mayor Series. Attendees took part in a group walk and also learned more about community resources that are available to help individuals stay fit. Hundreds Turn Out For Annual Forest Park Day At Starr Park

What a time we had at the 2024 edition of Forest Park Day presented by Councilwoman Latresa Akins-Wells. Hundreds packed Starr Park for a day filled with live music, food trucks, family activities and community fellowship. Special performances included The Eastside Boyz, Big Mexico, Fabo, Mykko Montana and Yung Joc. City Council Dedicates Hendrix Drive As Bishop Paul L. Fortson Drive

The definition of a true community servant. Congratulations to Bishop Paul L. Fortson who was recently recognized by the Forest Park City Council for his outstanding achievements and incredible years of service.


Bishop Fortson accepted his call to the Ministry in 1975. He was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ in 1977 and organized Paradise Church of God in Christ, located at 4234 Hendrix Drive, where he has been since 1984.


After presenting a special proclamation, the governing body made it official by dedicating Hendrix Drive as Bishop Paul L. Fortson Drive. Thank you, Bishop Fortson, for your remarkable dedication to the residents, businesses and constituents of Forest Park.

Forest Park Police Unveil New Real-Time Command Center 

Check out this awesome news story by Atlanta News First on how the Forest Park Police Department is using innovation and the latest technology to enhance public safety. The Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) allows officers to track everything from cameras to 911 calls to crime scenes as they happen. Along with the RTCC, the Drone as a First Responder Program will be deployed to incident scenes prior to the arrival of officers. These drones also provide live video feeds directly to the RTCC, offering real-time visuals of situations as they unfold. For more information, click here to view the full news story

Forest Park High School Graduate Recognized By the Atlanta Journal-Constitution

There's another superstar here in the City of Forest Park! Congratulations to Hannah Willis, who received the prestigious Atlanta Journal-Constitution Cup after graduating in the Top 5% of her class from Forest Park High School this past May. Established in 1927, the award recognizes academic excellence, community service and leadership among high school students in the metro Atlanta area. Hannah, along with members of her family, were recognized by City Council for this outstanding achievement. Way to go, Hannah, and continue to make us all proud!

Now Accepting Applications For The 2nd Annual Girls' Future Firefighter Camp

The Forest Park Fire and Emergency Services Department is hosting a FREE two-day camp for Clayton County youth ages 12-17 who want to learn the ins and outs of what it takes to become a certified firefighter. Led by several female fire professionals who have achieved success in the field, topics covered during the camp include fire service history, CPR, first aid, physical fitness, teamwork and much more. Slots for the camp are limited, and participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Click here to access the application.
