Miami’s Once “Colored Only Beach”.
Learn the Story That Began in 1945
Welcome to Paradise Renewed!!

Established on August 1, 1945 as Miami’s ‘Colored Only Beach’ immediately became a spot for social gatherings to tourists and residents who made trips to enjoy amenities such as the carousel, the dancing pavilion or the mini-train that would run through the enormous park.
Now, characterized by a unique and precious natural environment, the City of Miami’s largest recreational jewel serves as the ultimate recreational location for those who want to bask in the splendor of the sun and ocean.

HVKBP Participates in Virginia Key Island Challenge
On July 10th 2021, Historic Virginia Key Beach Park (HVKBP) participated in the first annual Virginia Key Island Challenge.

The challenge was a series of beach cleanups held around the island. Despite a rainy start, there were over 70 volunteers and 751 pounds of trash was picked up from the shoreline, our third highest weight of trash collected at HVKBP.

We would like to thank the nonprofit organizations, Fill a Bag and Off the Hook Florida for teaming up with us and coordinating the efforts at the Historic Beach. Overall, the Island challenge picked up over 1,000 pounds of trash from the entire island!
