Mulvaney speaking at ABA conference


Direct Practice Chair and Clinical Assistant Professor Beth Mulvaney is speaking on Thursday May 16th at a session of the American Bar Association's 2024 National Aging & the Law conference in Miami. Her presentation is entitled: The Healthcare POA: A Scalpel, Not a Sledgehammer with Grace Wankiiri Orsatti (Duquesne University School of Law) and Karl Bezak (Pitt School of Medicine).

Doctoral Student Amanda Cruce presented at the Florida Institute for Child Welfare (FICW) on kinship caregiver program evaluation and changing demographics of kinship caregivers in Florida. She joined Dr Longley, Kristine Prosada and Dr Yelick all from FICW.

Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation receives $2M gift from billionaire philanthropist MacKenzie Scott


The Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation received $2 million after applying to Scott’s open call last March.


Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation is a nonprofit that works with LGBTQ+ youth and community members in Allegheny County to provide health services, resources and education programs.


MSW alumna and current Staunton Farms Grant LCSW Supervisor Tracy Colleen Baton is an employee of Hugh Lane Wellness and helped apply for the funds.

Incoming MSW student wins CMU award


Incoming MSW student and current Carnegie Mellon University student Ziggy Sheynin, a psychology and Hispanic studies double major, has received the Gretchen Goldsmith Lankford Award. This annual award recognizes one student in the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences with exceptional academic and professional achievement who plans to pursue graduate studies in education.
