From Ohio PHP: Intersectionality and Allyship in the Workforce

"In my own world, intersectionality means that people and their lives are complicated, and I show up as my best self when I take an individual’s overlapping characteristics into account. It means I have the cultural humility and the willingness to take the time to ask a person what would make them feel most supported in the moment."

Check out this great blog from Christina Delos Reyes, MD via Ohio PHP on how to navigate intersectionality and allyship in the workforce.

Public Policy and Advocacy Update

Ohio Legislature: A Senate’s Session This Week

The legislature remains on a light schedule ahead of Ohio’s March primary election (see more on this below), as this week the Ohio Senate held a single full voting session, while the Ohio House did not have a meeting.

The Senate’s agenda for the day focused on issues related to higher education, capital funding, transportation issues, payment processes for guns, campaign contributions, the US Space Force, workers compensation, and school curriculum.

Physician organizations are working behind the scenes on issues related to prior authorization, medication switching, and other health policy issues in anticipation of potential opportunities later in the year for more focused legislative considerations.

Ohio Politics

For readers who have followed these update columns over the past few months, the light legislative schedule is related to the ongoing political challenges with the Republican leadership. Veteran Statehouse reporter Jessie Balmert’s story details the history and ongoing political narrative dominating the Ohio Statehouse.
