Trust-Funded Providers - Register for Virtual Semi-Annual Meeting April 21
All Trust-Funded Providers- Virtual Semi-Annual Provider Meeting: Thursday, April 21, from 10 a.m-1 p.m. The Children's Trust will host a general session for all Trust-funded providers from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Please note, initiative-specific breakout sessions will not follow the general session this meeting. We will communicate initiative-specific updates via email and/or initiative-specific meetings. An optional provider input session on our REDI/SEW implementation plan will follow from 12-1 p.m. The Provider Meeting will take place virtually. Please ensure that all staff members who are essential to our partnership attend; this includes your executive director/CEO and staff who manage your program. 
NEW UM Team COACH CoP: Practical Strategies and Equipment for Hybrid Delivery of Services
Practical Strategies and Equipment for Hybrid Delivery of Services
Flexible delivery of services is more important than ever. Within this community of practice, we will discuss practical strategies for engaging caregivers and children during hybrid sessions in which some participants are attending in-person and some participants are attending virtually. In addition, we will discuss the types of audio and video equipment that can help your meetings be more successful when participants are in multiple locations. First session will take place on Tuesday, April 19, from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. via Zoom. Click here to sign up.

Communities of Practice- Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are currently being offered virtually and are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs. Parent and Provider Stressors & Barriers - In this CoP, we will discuss the stressors and barriers that both you as a provider, and the families you serve, face. Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment -In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. The Advocacy Network on Disabilities Training Opportunities

Tuesday, April 26, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Navigating Community Resources – Unsure what’s available or where to find help for children with disabilities and their families? Join us for an introduction to the most helpful resources, and learn how to assist families navigate these systems of care.

These 3 Online Courses are always available through Trust Academy:

  • Understanding The Children’s Trust Guidelines for Including Children with Disabilities - Did you know that to address the needs of children and youth with disabilities, there are options for modifying outcome measures? Discover what is meant by accommodation, modification, alternate assessment, and alternate outcomes. Learn when they are appropriate for program participants, and how to request permission to use them.  
  • Discovering Inclusion - The foundation for all other trainings, an online introduction to children and youth with disabilities. Includes the benefits and characteristics of an inclusive program, and provides practical common-sense information on using respectful language and etiquette.
  • Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Part 1 - You hear a lot about it, but do you really know what Autism Spectrum Disorder is, and the different ways it appears in different children and youth? Learn the facts, and how to recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment. This online course is a pre-requisite for Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2.

Project RISE has launched a Spanish-language version of the "Introduction to Effective Behavior Management" course, titled, "Introducción al Manejo del Comportamiento." Virtual Mental Health Presentation for Parents/Caregivers *
On Wednesday, April 20, 12-1 p.m., parents/caregivers are invited to attend NAMI Miami’s virtual program “Ending the Silence for Families” (ETS). ETS is a 60-min presentation that increases knowledge about warning signs and helps identify the difference between typical youth behavior and symptoms of a mental health condition. Grants Available to Improve Community Conditions Shaped by Racism
A new Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) funding opportunity invites eligible nonprofit organizations to apply for a grant to use data to inform efforts to improve community conditions shaped by structural racism, and ultimately work towards achieving health equity. RWJF expects to award up to 35 individual grants of $40,000, with a period of performance of nine months. Nonprofit organizations based in the U.S. are eligible to apply. The Urban Institute is collaborating with RWJF on program design, grantee support, and documenting lessons for the field.

Research & Evaluation Analyst at The Children's Trust

Intervention Coordinators
The Overtown Youth Center is seeking a full-time intervention coordinator who will be part of a service team working in collaboration with Miami-Dade County Public Schools as part of the i3 Attendance and Enrollment Support Services Initiative. This initiative focuses on providing wrap-around service support to families of students with attendance issues at school. A minimum of two years experience working with youth/adult programs is required as are bilingual (Spanish or Creole) capabilities.

Available Positions at Breakthrough Miami
Assistant Site Direct
The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars.
The individual in this role is organized, self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Director of College Access
The Director of College Access oversees all activities that support high school student college-preparedness, including all BreakthroughU site programs. The director will build relationships with students, parents and key high school and college partners to help students build the life and leadership skills necessary to enroll in competitive colleges and pursue career goals. The Director of College Access plays a leadership role in developing program and research partnerships with University of Miami, and maintains mechanisms for ongoing engagement of BTM college-based alumni.

The individual in this role is self-directed, creative, able to see the big picture while also paying attention to the details and has the ability to collect, report, analyze and use data as a management tool.

Director of High School Programs
The Director of High School Programs is responsible for planning and implementing programming for Breakthrough Miami’s high school students to ensure they are prepared for academic success in high school, and successfully transition to college. The Director will work closely with students and families as they navigate the high school years, and hold students to high academic and community standards. During the school year, the Director will plan Saturday programming, monitor academic progress, set goals for inside and outside of the classroom, and navigate school and other community resources, to ensure students stay on track for college. Over the summer, the Director will work with the BTU team to plan and execute the six-week Summer Institute for 150+ 9th grade students to build community and support academic readiness, and the transition to high school.

The individual in this role is self-motivated, creative and an excellent communicator, who is able to develop and maintain key relationships.

Grants & Communications Writer
The Grants & Communications Writer is a critical member of the Development and Communications team and is primarily responsible for identifying funding opportunities from public and private sources, and writing polished proposals and grant applications to secure new and renewed funding, which will support fundraising efforts to meet an annual budget of $4.4M. The position will also support story development and organizational communications.

The Grants & Communications Writer must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to work efficiently and creatively under deadline. The Writer will work closely with Program Leadership, including the Chief Strategy Officer, and should have strong research and logic skills.

Summer Instructional Coaches
Summer Instructional Coaches (ICs) are experienced and successful professional educators who provide content-specific support for BTM Teaching Fellows throughout the summer and engage fully in the BTM community. ICs dictate the level of academic rigor during Breakthrough Miami’s summer program through their interactions with Teaching Fellows. They effectively communicate content specifics to Teaching Fellows, guide Fellows through effective planning and execution, and hold both Fellows and students to the highest standards. ICs are expected to lead department meetings, visit Fellows’ classes at least twice a week, evaluate lesson plans and curriculum overviews, and meet individually with Fellows regarding their ongoing work. Since ICs are the only professional teachers on-site, they are accountable for the quality of instruction students receive and are responsible for supporting BTM Teaching Fellows through their teaching experiences. This role starts on June 11 and ends on August 5.

The individuals in this role must have a State of Florida Teaching Certificate or equivalent; an outstanding track record as a professional classroom teacher; exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to deliver positive, constructive and honest feedback; and creativity, energy and commitment to excellence.

Summer Site Coordinators
Summer Site Coordinators (SSCs) are critical members of the summer administrative team and help ensure the smooth and safe operations of the Summer Institute at their assigned site. SSCs train, coordinate and oversee volunteers; supervise the summer food service program for Scholars and staff; order and keep an inventory of program supplies; coordinate general office administration; manage the Scholar drop-off and pick-up process; and assist with the execution of special events. This position starts on June 11 and ends on August 5.

The individuals in this role must have a strong academic record with a minimum of two years of college completion; and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Summer Assistant Site Coordinators
Summer Assistant Site Directors (SASDs) work collaboratively with full-time directors at their assigned site to ensure a successful Summer Institute; and work closely with Scholars and their families, as well as Teaching Fellows to ensure their needs are met. This position starts on June 11 and ends on August 5.

The individuals in this role must have a bachelor’s degree; a high degree of flexibility in order to multitask between projects; exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in many different environments with people from diverse backgrounds; comfort and confidence in working with children and adults; and creativity, energy, and a commitment to excellence.
