When the bulk of on-campus activities resumes, Roast Runners will have a slightly different look to it. A live edge bar now sits along the western windows inside the Albany campus' coffee shop.

“This was a project that involved the whole community,” said Mindy Bean, Supervisor of the Business Team Co-Curricular and Roast Runners. “From the students in the Business Team Co-Curricular and welding department, local businesses in our community, and our fellow LBCC employees.”

The original slab of wood was donated by Nathan Nystrom, owner of Hull-Oakes Lumber Company. After the slab arrived on campus, LBCC's welding instructors and students designed and fabricated the legs.

In pre-pandemic times, Roast Runners had always been the place to take a relaxing break from classes, or work, while enjoying a cup of coffee or a snack.

“The live edge bar will enhance this atmosphere, allowing patrons to look outside into the quad and see the activity at LBCC,” said Bean. And, when activities on campus resume, the new bar in Roast Runners will be a great place to relax, meet friends, and enjoy the view of a vibrant, campus life.
