MHS Staff First to Finish the BPL Passport Program

The Boston Public Library (BPL) recently began a passport program to encourage library visitors to visit all branches of the BPL. MHS’s own Director of Research, Dr. Kanisorn Wongsrichanalai, was the first person to visit every BPL branch and finish his passport.

“I am a huge fan of the passport program run by National Park Service, so I could not resist this new BPL activity. I loved the experience of learning about the BPL system, Boston’s neighborhoods, and the MBTA,” shared Dr. Wongsrichanalai. He explained that he “used almost all modes of transportation to get to the locations: on foot, by bike, by bus, by commuter rail, and by subway. I honestly did not expect to be the first one in the city to complete the program but, at the MHS, we like being first.”

Happy 258th Anniversary to John and Abigail Adams

To celebrate John and Abigail Adams’s wedding anniversary, 25 October 1764, read what Abigail wrote to John on their wedding anniversary in 1777:

“This day dearest of Friends compleats 13 years since we were solemly united in wedlock; 3 years of the time we have been cruelly seperated. I have patiently as I could endured it with the Belief that you were serving your Country, and rendering your fellow creatures essential Benefits. May future Generations rise up and call you Blessed, and the present behave worthy of the blessings you are Labouring to secure to them, and I shall have less reason to regreat the deprivation of my own perticuliar felicity.”
