A Message from the Principal
Greetings from Sunny Hills High School,

It has been another busy week on the hill. Our Superintendent, Steve McLaughlin, Ed.D. and  Assistant Superintendent, Ed Atkinson, Ed.D. spent the day Wednesday on our campus talking to Leadership, teacher groups, athletics staff, ASB, Yearbook, Newspaper Staff, and parents about the qualities they are looking for in their new principal. It was a very thoughtful day that illustrated how special this school is. Our school community is dedicated to the continuous growth and positive culture enjoyed by Sunny Hills High School.

A big thank you to our PTSA for the wonderful break-time food spread they provided in honor of January and February birthdays. The food was not only delicious but beautifully arranged. We are so fortunate to have such a caring PTSA.

Remember that The International Food Festival is scheduled for Thursday, Mar 17, 2022, and promises to be a great event. Mark your calendars.

Another big thank you goes to Hannah Yaros, a student art preparer, for the expert arrangement of student art in the principal’s office. I couldn’t ask for a more pleasant environment in which to work. Being surrounded by the extraordinary artistic talents of our students reminds me each day of the great work that is being done at SHHS.
Congratulations to Mr. Artemyev and his German students. This information appeared in a press release  from the American Association of Teachers of German, Inc. (AATG)

The English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC) is the state's assessment that is used to determine the English Language Proficiency of students whose primary language is not English.  The Summative ELPAc is given yearly and is used to measure student progress toward English proficiency, to help inform educational placements, and possible reclassification.  Students are assessed in four areas: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.  This month, Sunny Hills High School has been working to complete the ELPAC and has assessed almost 96% of our eligible students.  Our goal will be to complete the assessment with all eligible students in the next few weeks.

Course registration for summer school and the 2022-23 school year is underway. In the coming weeks, your student will bring home all of the registration resources given to them during the in-class counseling presentation. Following the presentation, students will enter their course requests in their Aeries Student Portal.  School counselors will also meet with each student to review their course requests and collect the course request worksheet.
