A MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
Our first priority is a healthy and safe academic, co-curricular, and professional environment. The COVID-19 virus is resurging with the Omicron variant predominant, and the vast majority of the severe illnesses and deaths from COVID-19 are among the unvaccinated. Our policies are based on widely-accepted science, conditions in our local area, and institutional priorities. Please keep abreast of up-to-date information regarding our COVID-19 policies.

With the continued increase in the percent of positivity rates in the state of Alabama and Macon County, Tuskegee University is updating its protocols for teaching and learning as follows:

  • Beginning February 10, 2022, face-to-face and hybrid classes will resume based upon the availability of suitable spaces for adequate ventilation and physical distancing. Please communicate with your instructor and advisors for the courses in your schedule that will be face-to-face or hybrid.
  • All students, faculty, and staff will require pre-arrival PCR tests before returning to campus. In addition, all students, faculty, and staff must subsequently satisfy ongoing testing requirements as established by the University.
  • Verification of booster shots will be required of all faculty and staff before Sunday, February 20, 2022, unless a religious or medical exemption has been approved or within 30 days after qualifying to take the booster, whichever comes first. Eligible faculty and staff are those who received their last dose of the Pfizer or Moderna shot more than six months prior or who received the Johnson and Johnson shot more than two months ago.

In closing, let us all remain vigilant by following Tuskegee University’s most recent health guidelines. If eligible, get your booster now, mask on/mask up, wash hands frequently and practice physical distancing.

Together we can keep our community safe.
