We wish you and your family a Happy Canada Day for tomorrow!
The weather has yet again challenged us as a Club and it feels like every day we find ourselves as staff discussing the rainfall or the air quality. None of these decisions are taken lightly and as you can imagine we do not particularly want to reschedule over 80 games and practices due to a missed night. However, as we learned during the pandemic, we are not healthcare professionals but soccer professionals and we listen to the experts when they say it is not safe. From the perspective of fields being playable, we have a fantastic relationship with the City of Pickering that affords us the ability to decide when fields should and should not be used. This involves discussions between facility, technical and administrative staff to ensure the right decision is made for the long-term quality of the playing surface. Once the decision is made to cancel practices or games due to these conditions then we rescind all field permits with the City and as such fields should not be used for club programs.
We want to thank our technical staff and coaches for being responsive to this need and doing what is right for our players and the fields we use.
The Kinsmen Field Complex will get plenty of rest this weekend as the City of Pickering hosts their annual Canada Day firework display in the area. If you cannot get down to the fireworks then please drop by the PFC tent at The Esplanade between 11:30 AM and 5:00 PM to say hi!
REMINDER If you would like to be part of the 40th Anniversary Committee or a sub-committee to support a specific event, we still have space available. Click the Application Form here to confirm your interest and answer four quick questions!
