Later in the day our younger age groups in the Development program got on the turf for the first time and it was plain to see from the smiles on their faces that this was the place to be. It was great to welcome parents back too. If you think back to the last time we were in the dome the pandemic was still going through it's latest wave and limited numbers were allowed to enter the dome. Seeing the looks of surprise on parents faces as they took in the new lighting, sunroof, and field configuration made it all worthwhile.
Tuesday saw the Club host senior management from the City of Pickering who oversee outdoor field maintenance and new field development, specifically at New Seaton. We of course took the chance to show them the latest jewel in the City's crown, however the greatest success was our ongoing discussions with them about the City's growth, field demands for this year and our ongoing efforts to work in partnership with them on the current City inventory.
Later in the day our older teams with OPDL and League 1 Reserves were on the field for fitness testing with Richard Buccarelli of Speed Training. This is an OPDL requirement so having it completed on the brand new turf was a perfect environment to give our players the best chance to perform ahead of the new season which kicks off Saturday April 29th.
