Families, Friends and Supporters,

Within the next week we will close the books on a tough Indoor 2020-2021 season and open the books on a hopeful 2021 Outdoor season. We again want to thank families for their patience as we dealt with facility openings and then closures, groups of 10 and plastic sheeting. It's not how we thought the dome would be used but it meant that we could keep players connected and happy while coaches got to deliver their craft in a new environment. On the administration side of things, the PFC Board met this week to assess the refund plan for any shortfall in program delivery. This was a quick discussion with unanimous agreement and means that staff will be processing refunds back to credit cards over the next few days. For anyone who will be refunded by check these will be sent out towards the end of next week.

Again we thank you for your patience and we hope that the transparency we shared with you back in September 2020 helped reassure you that we planned as best as we can.

The Outdoor 2021 season will take the same format as last year with a calculation made for the fixed costs that we can't recover. The variable costs based on a per week amount will be assessed at the end of the Outdoor 2021 season. We continue to wait for confirmation with each league on their planned season and all are hopeful that we can see games as early as July with training starting as soon as it is safe to do so.

Like most people during the pandemic we are sometimes learning on the fly and we have improved this process with each season.

Thank you to Brendan, Nina, and Dave in our office for the quick turnaround on these refunds. Now let's hope for a more normal Outdoor season!

We are planning and working towards a 2021 Outdoor Season subject to the Covid guidelines that we all must follow.
Our friends at the Woodstock Soccer Club have been very creative on their outdoor neighbourhood walks. Tim, the Vice President, has been posting videos on the "WSC For All" Twitter handle of his neighbourhood walks with is son Nathan, who has Autism.

These videos feature Nathan doing a variety of soccer skills, as they take breaks during their walks. Keep up the great work Nathan!!

We had OVER 75 players and coaches attend the April 20th Match Officials Education session that focused on Game Management. It was a great opportunity to have the 3 groups in the same session as it helped provide some insight on what a Match Official does during the game so it is played safely and fairly.

Our next session is on Tuesday, May 18, topic is TBD
Ontario Soccer is hosting its 2021 Match Official Clinics online. There is space available in these clinics and for more information on how to register please CLICK HERE.

There are user guides for Students to review to help with the registration process and the expectations of the clinics. When registering you will be asked to identify a club so please remember to enter Pickering FC! Once you register we will add you to our contact list to keep in touch with you regarding PFC Match Official Education Sessions and updates on the 2021 Outdoor season.

The online clinics end on May 27th, so if you are interested you will need to start the clinic no later than May 15th in order to have enough time to complete the modules before attending the mandatory webinar and writing the exam.
