UM Team COACH: Communities of Practice Return in February
Communities of Practice- Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are currently being offered virtually and are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs. If you have any questions or would like additional support, please contact teamcoach@miami.edu.

Parent and Provider Stressors & Barriers - In this CoP, we will discuss the stressors and barriers that both you as a provider, and the families you serve, face. Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment -In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. The New Normal: Returning to In-Person Services during COVID-19 - In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to share ideas and problem-solve strategies for returning to in-person services for group-based, home-based, and office-based parenting services. We will discuss recruitment, communication, and safety strategies for your staff and participants. Come prepared to share your agency’s ideas to help all programs successfully serve the community. You will have the opportunity to get to know other community providers, share information, and support one another. Date and time TBD.
Successfully Engaging Youth and Their Families into Services 
Family is critical to a youth’s development and success, and providers can work with families to mobilize sources of support and resilience. In this Training and Implementation Associates (TIA) course, we show why engagement can be challenging, how to avoid blaming families for being resistant, and how to form a healthy working relationship. This online training course is available on Trust Academy and is appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Family Strengthening and Family and Neighborhood Support programs.

The Advocacy Network on Disabilities Training Opportunities
These 3 Online Courses are always available through Trust Academy:

  • Understanding The Children’s Trust Guidelines for Including Children with Disabilities - Did you know that to address the needs of children and youth with disabilities, there are options for modifying outcome measures? Discover what is meant by accommodation, modification, alternate assessment, and alternate outcomes. Learn when they are appropriate for program participants, and how to request permission to use them.  
  • Discovering Inclusion - The foundation for all other trainings, an online introduction to children and youth with disabilities. Includes the benefits and characteristics of an inclusive program, and provides practical common-sense information on using respectful language and etiquette.
  • Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Part 1 - You hear a lot about it, but do you really know what Autism Spectrum Disorder is, and the different ways it appears in different children and youth? Learn the facts, and how to recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment. This online course is a pre-requisite for Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2.

FREE Parenting Program at Overtown Youth Center *
The Overtown Youth Center is offering FREE parenting groups through the Positive Parenting Program. The center is seeking parents of elementary school students ages 5-12 years old to participate in this 8-week program. Group sessions are held on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m.. Spotlight Miami is a women’s giving circle where members contribute $1k or more annually with 100% of annual membership dues gifted to local charities through a grant application process. The Institute for Child and Family Health (ICFH) provides mental health services including Individual/family therapy and psychiatry for children and adolescents in Miami-Dade County. The institute accepts most Medicaid HMO’s and has funding for children of low-income families who do not have insurance. ICFH also provides individual/family therapy and psychiatry services for adults who have Medicaid.

Community Engagement Manager at The Children's Trust
The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for performing a variety of community-driven duties with an emphasis on maintaining contact with community groups, parents, and other caregivers, providing support to residents on children’s needs, as well as evaluating and responding to community needs concerning children. The incumbent exercises independence of action and will possess considerable knowledge of community activities and needs for children and families and use considerable professional judgment in the performance of community engagement work.
Research and Evaluation Analyst at The Children's Trust
The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth and family services. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports, with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.

This exempt, salaried position works under general supervision from the director of research. Work performance is reviewed through conferences, reports and observation of results achieved.

Assistant Site Director *
The Assistant Site Director (ASD) is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of programs and services that most directly affect Breakthrough Miami Scholars and families. An ASD oversees campus or site logistics, unpaid student volunteers and some stipended positions, such as Teaching Fellows. As an ambassador of the program, the ASD builds supportive relationships with students, parents, schools, the community and other stakeholders to ensure the academic and socio-enrichment success of all Breakthrough Scholars.

The individual in this role is organized, self-motivated and collaborative, with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Grants & Communications Writer *
The Grants & Communications Writer is a critical member of the Development and Communications team and is primarily responsible for identifying funding opportunities from public and private sources, and writing polished proposals and grant applications to secure new and renewed funding, which will support fundraising efforts to meet an annual budget of $4.4M. The position will also support story development and organizational communications.
The Grants & Communications Writer must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to work efficiently and creatively under deadline. The Writer will work closely with Program Leadership, including the Chief Strategy Officer, and should have strong research and logic skills.

Temporary Chat Line Counselor
Jewish Community Services is seeking a temporary Chat Line Counselor to provide information, referrals, crisis counseling as well as suicide intervention to chatters upon completion of a thorough risk assessment and identification of most presenting needs. This is a temporary full-time position.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Human Service field preferred. Two years experience in providing information and referral services preferred.

Resource Specialist
Jewish Community Services is seeking a Resource Specialist to apply the tools developed in his/her own recovery/experiences as well as the philosophy and values of the Florida Peer Network in order to build connections with Veteran-serving agencies to better develop and manage resource information.
High school diploma or equivalent is required. U.S. veteran of a branch of the United States Military Forces, including the Coast Guard and National Guard (retired or reservist), required.

Part-Time Clinician
Jewish Community Services is seeking a part-time clinician to provide direct services to the cross-section of the program’s caseload including children, adolescents, adults and families in the assigned offices and via telehealth.
