Faculty member wins award
|
Assistant Professor Nev Jones was awarded the Pioneer Award by the National Association of Peer Supporters (NAPS). This national award is given to an individual or an organization that has made a significant impact on the study and practice of peer support. Their input has played an invaluable role in advancing peer support and has contributed to furthering the development of the peer support workforce.

COSA Chair and Associate Professor Mary Ohmer, along with 3 other colleagues, was just accepted by the ACOSA as the new Editorial Team for the Journal of Community Practice through a competitive process. She will be serving a 3 year term. The Editorial Team consists of Ohmer, and three colleagues from the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare: Michelle Mohr Carney, PhD, Professor and Dean, Amy N. Mendenhall, PhD, Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Research & Faculty Development, and Deborah Adams, PhD, Associate Professor, and MSW Program Director.

|
BASW alumna Claire Singer, along with other Tree of Life Scholars, sought to collect and display student responses to the Tree of Life shooting. The resulting collection, To Those Who Grasp It: Student Responses to Oct. 27, was the first attempt in Pittsburgh and possibly beyond, to create an interpretive exhibit to understand and contextualize Oct. 27. United Way Donor Profile: Yodit Betru

From October 20 – November 20, Pitt Social Work is running its internal United Way campaign to try to reach our school-wide goal of $12,000 in pledged donations to the United Way. We are profiling a handful of Social Work staff and faculty who supported area organizations through United Way last year to inspire our Pitt SW community to give generously this year and help us meet our goal.
