Dear Member, Stakeholder, Supporter,

Every year we run through some house-keeping rules as we move our programs indoors to the Pickering Soccer Centre. It helps us all get along when we really get into the thick of winter and all the mess it brings! Last year was very different with no spectators allowed in, plastic sheeting to divide fields and lots of sanitization.

This year things are very cautiously getting back to normal but we have to be respectful that not everyone is moving back to normal as quickly as others are. The GTISL corrected an earlier message suggesting two parents were allowed into league games -this is decided by each facility and as such Pickering Soccer Centre is still maintaining the 1 spectator per player rule and feel this is prudent while we watch case numbers slowly creep up and with flu season well underway. We think you'll agree that makes sense.

  • Please keep in mind that we have 6 accessible parking spaces at the front of the facility. Parents lining up to pick up their child at the end of practice CANNOT BLOCK these parking spaces. Please collect your child at the door and walk them back to your car in order to keep the traffic flowing smoothly.

  • There is no excuse for parking in areas that are not permitted parking spaces. Parking spaces are clearly marked. Parking in lane-ways or across hashed sidewalks is frankly dangerous, disrespectful and lazy to other facility users.
  • Current weather forecasts are suggesting a strong start to winter with snow and temperature drops in early December. The City of Pickering will continue to keep our parking lots clear of snow while our grounds maintenance contractor, Whitby Shores Landscaping, will be maintaining the front apron (sidewalk) as well as the perimeters of the dome. If you see any potential hazards let our facility staff know as soon as possible and we will have it addressed.

Thank you for your support in keeping our facility a safe and welcoming place this winter.
PFC Facility Staff will be positioned in the lobby to check everyone in, subject to their vaccine requirements. PFC will not accept any abuse of staff or volunteers as we all try to navigate this difficult time. Please have patience and come prepared.

Anusha Broekhuyse joined us as a volunteer at the height of the pandemic, assisting with our virtual programming. She then brought her love of our program to the field and joined us this summer as a coach.

Anusha used her visual art skills to illustrate the enjoyment, fears, and challenges that youth living with disabilities face on a daily basis and hopes that this book will help inspire more children living with intellectual and/or physical disabilities to participate in sports.
Logan Learns to Play will be available on Amazon for $15.00. We will let you know once it is available. Please use the link above to Pre-Order your copy.
Volunteers Needed!
WHY VOLUNTEER?

The Pickering Football Club’s All Abilities Program is a unique program which offers children and youth with special needs a chance to have fun, make friends and get fit through the great game of soccer. We have grown to become one of the largest programs in Canada. We are always looking for volunteers to join our program. You will receive specialised training and the opportunity to truly make a difference in our community.
