This weeks newsletter is a BIG one!

We missed last weeks delivery and have some great news stories to share with you.

Story 1

PFC's Blind Soccer team won silver at the Ontario Parasport Games held in Oshawa last weekend. Going head-to-head with North Mississauga Soccer Club over four grueling games, the team put in performances to be proud of. An estimated 200 people attended games over the course of the two days and saw some incredible action as PFC further pushed the limits of inclusion and accessibility. Andre Wilkinson scored Pickering's lone goal after some persistent pressure from Esther Berman and Ramya Amuthan forced the goalkeeper to step out of his area. The team were energised by the crowds reaction and will be straight back on the training field this weekend to prepare for the next opportunity.

Story 2

Dome progress is continuing on a daily basis. Our new turf was delivered this week and once additional electrical work is completed throughout the dome we will finally get to see our new playing surface in all its glory. Three sea containers have arrived and are ready for installation to the east end of the dome giving us additional storage for sport and event equipment. Upgrades to the wheelchair accessible doors will mean more windows for improved visibility.

Congratulations to Adam Shaikh and Elizabeth Maoine who were recognised at part of the Ontario Soccer MilkUP Future Leaders Class of 2022. 

Ontario Soccer and its premier partner, the Dairy Farmers of Ontario, MilkUP Ontario Soccer Future Leaders “Class of ‘22” initiative is an integral element of the innovative MilkUP Future Leaders Youth Leadership Development Framework originally launched in spring of 2021. The MilkUP Ontario Soccer Future Leaders “Class of ‘22” recognizes the achievements and impact of youth in the soccer community. The selected group of deserving award winners embodies the Ontario Soccer tagline of “Play. Inspire. Unite.” in both their soccer community and their home community.

The “Class of ‘22” awardees all have consistently demonstrated an attitude of resilience, and a strong work ethic. Most importantly, they all share future aspirations of leadership within the ‘beautiful game,’ all being driven to continue their journey of soccer involvement and community contribution as leaders, players, coaches, match officials and/or administrators.

Recreational registration for outdoor soccer is open! Our popular recreational programs will hit fields across the City of Pickering this summer and registration will fill up quick.
