Day 8 in our Countdown to Opening Week

Dear United Families,

Today topic is always one of the more fun and anticipated topics, the United training and match kit. Who doesn't like new gear? Every two years we refresh uniforms as they become tattered and the kids grow like weeds. Along with the excitement of a new uniform style, we have made an exciting change to our training top.

If you read this newsletter top to bottom instead of bottom up, I would be amazed. Keep in mind that all those that are listed on a team roster should have visited European Sports to be fitted and place an order. If you have not, please do ASAP. The lead time to order the jersey and put numbers, logo and shield on is 2-3 weeks. Don't be concerned if you are in this situation. You will get something in time for our first official event, Soccerfest.

You will pay European Sports directly for any purchases outside of the standard kit included in your dues. Please be patient after you place your order. European Sports will notify you when it is time to pick up your kit. You may or may not know but there is a global supply chain issue that is affecting every industry, including soccer apparel.

All player numbers are assigned by the club as we have to manage kids playing on more than one team. It may sound insignificant but we have some referees that are sticklers of the rule that does not allow two players from the same team to have the same number on the field at the same time. European Sports has a list of every player and the assigned player number. They provide you with that number if you want to have the number put on other gear you purchase. If they do not have a number they will contact us to assign one.

The last point I will make refers back to the Day 12 newsletter. One of the big rules is the kids are to come to training dressed appropriately. This is defined as wearing the training top, black shorts, and black socks. Both the red and black pinnies must be in the players bag as well. Examples of not being dressed appropriately include wearing match jerseys or old training tops that are a different color, wearing shorts that are not black Nike shorts (black Nike shorts from past season are acceptable), wearing socks that are not the Nike black socks issued in the kit. The coach reserves the right to sit the player out if they are not dressed appropriately. I have heard many excuses why a player did not come to training prepared and there is only one acceptable excuse..."I ordered my uniform and I await a call from European Sports to pick it up." Parents, please help your United player meet this requirement and teach them the discipline of being prepared..

Here is a countdown of topics to come between now and August 9. Topics may switch positions over the next week as I want to be sure we provide as much information as possible on the topic. Rest assured that all topics will be covered. If you missed a newsletter you can click a link below to review. We also provide this list of newsletter on our website front page, https://www.saa-online.com/clubsoccer

Our next topic is about the resources we will use to communicate information to you. This is one of the most important topics. It's a topic that I am hopeful will be one the biggest improvements within the club...timely, accessible, informative communication. No matter how good we are doing or improving, there is always room for further improvement.
