National Child Abuse Prevention Month and Five Days of Action
Members of our team wore blue on April 1 to kick off National Child Abuse Prevention Month. We all have a role in protecting children, and we're proud to work with program leaders, staff and volunteers to help children have safe and rewarding experiences on campus!
|
|
April 18-22 also marks the Five Days of Action, a week-long campaign designed to raise awareness and inspire adults to take action to protect children from sexual abuse.

Risk management staff enjoyed several experiences during Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week. Thanks to the university sponsors, work groups, advisory committee, and other units, faculty, staff and students who made the week possible!

Program area spotlight:
student organization safety
|
Brooke Lents
Student organization safety coordinator
What I do:
In my role as the student organization safety coordinator, I work with all student organizations on their travel requests and approving travel when all trainings are complete and waivers are signed. I will also work more closely with clubs on safety plans for events and overall club operations. I’m enjoying working with all the students in the different organizations!
What I want you to know:
I love to help people! I love playing a small part to make someone’s event or activity successful. I’m happy to guide student organizations through the travel process or to help students with safety plans for activities. All questions are welcome. I frequently say, “You don’t know what you don’t know!”
|
|
My favorite things about my work:
One of the things I’ve enjoyed the most about working for ORM is learning more about all the groups and their activities at ISU. I learn something new every day! I enjoy and appreciate the ORM team and the other departments I’ve engaged with so far. Everyone is driven to help the students accomplish their goals and I’m excited to be a part of it!

Testimonial
"The ISU Boxing Club underwent major reorganization in the past year as well as held our first major event since the pandemic. We had a new head coach, new faculty advisor, new constitution, and new officers. Brooke helped us follow best practices for setting up new policies and procedures for the club to ensure that we were staying within the guidelines of ISU. She spent the time helping us work through the challenges of operating a "high risk" club with safety as our number goal. Thanks to Brooke's special care, the club hosted a successful and safe midwestern boxing event with five universities in attendance. We could not have succeeded the way we did this year, and win the Sports Club of the Year award, if Brooke and Landon Wolfe from Rec Services hadn't shown us the care they did. Thank you, Brooke!"
