IEDC Highlights PEDC's AEDO Accreditation

The Pasadena Economic Development Corporation was recently recognized by the International Economic Development Council as one of 70 accredited economic development organizations in the world.

Murals in Pasadena's Historic Shaw District Complete

Efforts to rejuvenate Pasadena's original downtown area took off in 2021 and look to continue in 2022. Paving, curbing and drainage improvements and the mural project are complete. Explore what project is still to come in the collaborative effort to revive Pasadena's Historic Shaw District. Revival is the core of a project by the Pasadena Economic Development Corporation as it seeks to enhance the visual appeal of Pasadena and reinvigorate the Shaw Avenue area through
road improvements, art, and other beautification projects.

Vince Bayou Greenway Project Community Meeting

PEDC, along with partners City of Pasadena Parks & Recreation Department and Houston Parks Board, hosted a third Community Input Meeting for the Vince Bayou Greenway Project which will provide a transformational hike-and-bike trail along the Bayou from Pasadena's Memorial Park to Strawberry Park.

PEDC Receives Economic Excellence Award From TEDC

For the 4th time in a row, PEDC is honored with the Texas Economic Development Council's Economic Excellence Recognition for outstanding commitment to excellence and achievement in professional economic development. PEDC is thrilled to be granted this honor along with peers across the state.

The Texas EDC is the pre-eminent organization advocating professional economic development in Texas.

Pasadena Loves Local Continues BR&E Program

The Pasadena Loves Local program began in October 2020 as a way to help area businesses affected by the pandemic. Today, PEDC and the
Pasadena Chamber of Commerce seek to build on that effort
and expand the Pasadena Loves Local program by adding a Business Retention and Expansion Program geared toward an even larger group of businesses, promoting economic development and delivering success for all of Pasadena's businesses and citizens.

RECENT LOCAL & INDUSTRY NEWS
Learn about PEDC's Business Enhancement Program; a matching grant program to support local small business development and city revitalization.

The Business Enhancement Program is an initiative available to eligible businesses to apply for funds to complete enhancement and improvement projects that improve the appearance and functionality of their exterior.

Recently, the Pasadena Loves Local Committee held its first workshops of the year; using YouTube to Grow Your Business and 3 Steps to Creating Exceptional Customer Loyalty. PEDC is excited to partner with the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce for these workshops throughout the year. Contact Erin Webb at the Pasadena Chamber to learn how you can get involved.

The IMPACT Pasadena Leadership Program held their opening retreat this winter with their 2022 class of 15 dynamic leaders across most industries in our city. The retreat marks the beginning of this transformative leadership experience. PEDC is a proud sponsor of the program facilitated by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce.

The Houston Ship Channel's Project 11, the deepening and widening channel improvement program, was recently awarded $142.5M by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).

Recently, Turner Industries, a single vendor solution in heavy industrial construction, pipe, module and vessel fabrication, equipment, rigging and heavy hauling, opened a new state-of-the-art industrial training facility in Pasadena, TX.

UPDATE ON CURRENT INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS

Richey Street - Phase II
Investment: $2 million
Coverage: ~ 0.5 mile (Southmore Ave. to South Houston Rd.)
Update: Engineering is complete. The project consists of two contracts- signage project and roadway project. Both will be out for bid on April 6, 2022. 

Shaw Avenue
Investment: $2.8 million
Coverage: Carl Street to McMasters Avenue
Update: Construction is in progress. The project is expected to be substantially complete in May 2022.
