FAU's Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College is proud to partner with Path to College to bring science to high school students and guide them on independent projects. Erik Duboué, Ph.D., an assistant professor of biology in the Honors College provided guidance to the students in his research lab during the year long program. The students presented the results on their work during Education Fest 2020 on June 4.

State Representative David Silvers, District 87 is hosting a virtual town hall at FAU featuring Laura Vernon, Ph.D., professor of psychology at FAU’s Wilkes Honors College and FAU provost fellow of student mental health, Kathryn Kominars, Ph.D., director of FAU Counseling and Psychological Services, and Kathleen Moore, Ph.D., research professor in mental health, law, and policy at USF. The town hall will be hosted live on Zoom, Thursday, June 11, at 2 p.m. This is a chance to learn more about mental health issues and resources during COVID-19 and to raise awareness of mental health needs to FAU administration and a state representative.

Before graduation, Makenna King, a student at FAU's Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, worked for FAU's Florida Center for Environmental Studies as an arboretum assistant on FAU's John D. MacArthur Campus at Jupiter . Makenna chose to write her senior thesis on Florida's endangered burrowing four o'clock, Okenia hypogaea, a rare vine-like dune plant found only in Mexico and five counties on Florida's southeast coast from St. Lucie to Miami-Dade County.
Makenna surveyed the rare plants at John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, both pre- and post-Hurricane Dorian. Due to the quality of her thesis and the extensive surveys that she completed, Makenna was chosen as one of eleven students in the college to receive the "Outstanding Thesis" award... Read More

Wilkes Honors College, provost fellow of student mental health, and founder of FAU Thrive, hosts Robin Rubin, MSW, instructor in the Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work and founder of the Robin Rubin Center for Happiness and Life Enhancement. They discuss tips for increasing happiness and talk about Rubin’s center dedicated to helping students, faculty, staff and community members to enrich, nurture, and improve their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. As OLLI Jupiter staff and faculty continue to work remotely from home during this time, while striving to provide quality online programs during the summer semester. The online format allows physically challenged students more freedom to participate in class, and it is also accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
