Student and Alumna Represent Dietrich College at Commencement
Four distinguished guests virtually joined Carnegie Mellon University's Class of 2021 Commencement exercises. France A. Córdova and Martha C. Nussbaum, as well as CMU graduates, Jewell P. Rhodes and Robert D. Summer, received honorary degrees from the university. The ceremonies were live-streamed online for all others, including friends, family and the CMU community.

Delphi Research Group, Collaborators Honored for COVIDcast
The American Statistical Association has presented the 2021 Statistical Partnerships Among Academe, Industry, and Government Award to Roni Rosenfeld and Ryan Tibshirani with Carnegie Mellon University’s Delphi Research Group, as well as their COVIDcast partners. 

Dietrich Scholars to Begin Studies
The inaugural class of Dietrich College Scholars represents an exemplary group of doctoral students pursuing their degrees in the eight Dietrich departments that offer doctoral degree programs. The fellowship provides a pathway to success through financial support, opportunities to expand networks and professional development.

Senior Rallies To Ace Comeback
Joshua Pinckney chose CMU after a campus visit. Academics were his priority, but he planned on playing tennis no matter where he attended.

Last summer, Pinckney was having difficulty connecting his racket to the ball. A routine eye-exam showed the troubling indication of a larger problem, and Pinckney found a normal day morph into an emergency room visit, an MRI and a life-altering diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.

Barbara Shinn-Cunningham, director of CMU’s Neuroscience Institute, and other faculty experts will explore what happens inside our brains as we age and how a deeper understanding of late-onset diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s can shape future research and potential treatment.
