Last week, we opened our Clothing Room and distributed hundreds of coats, hats, gloves, warm clothes and shoes to families in need. Thank you to the Southampton Elementary Student Council for hosting a coat drive for us! Do you have gently used coats or winter clothing? Check out our drop-off hours at the bottom.
The winter months are the hardest for many in our community. Our seasonal economy is at its lowest and warm clothes, heat and housing are expensive. Thanks to your support we are able to be the friend our neighbors turn to in times of need.
This month with your help we:
- Helped a mother and daughter displaced from their housing store their belongings, stay in a hotel for a few nights, secure a room to rent and help them move in
- Covered a heating oil delivery for a senior and helped them register for HEAP
- Rented a hotel room for two weeks for a homeless woman that just received a terminal cancer diagnosis.
- Paid a portion of the rent for a woman on disability
- Arranged for a car repair for a single mom
- Paid a portion of the rent for a woman recovering from hip surgery
- Made a car payment for a new mother and helped her apply for WIC
- Helped a family with rent and temporary childcare expenses
- Paid a cable bill for a disabled woman receiving cancer treatments
- Covered a home heating delivery for a single dad
- Paid a portion of the rent for a family battling cancer
- Arranged for new propane tanks so a family could receive HEAP deliveries
- Arranged rides to medical appointments for a senior
- Paid a portion of the rent for a family with young children
- Covered a home heating delivery for a senior while their HEAP application is pending
- Paid a portion of the rent for a senior
- Provided a security deposit for a single mother and her daughters to rent a room and helped them find furniture so they didn't have to live in their car anymore
