CT-VA FUNDRAISER
& LEARNING EVENT
We're Walking the Ward with Gary Flowers on Saturday, October 15, 2022 9:00-11:00 am, beginning at the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia! Mr. Flowers is an eighth-generation Virginian and a fourth-generation historic Jackson Ward resident, as well as being an historian, local radio show host and ardent community supporter, especially of the Black community in Richmond, among many other things.
This is a 20-stop walking tour of historic Jackson Ward near downtown Richmond, and includes historic educational, economic, religious, and social institutions that inspired the name, “Black Wall Street, and “The Harlem of the South”, and reflect the Ward’s culturally historic past.
Historic videos during the tour are provided by the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia and the Maggie Walker Historic Site.
Note: This is an outdoor walking tour that involves approximately 1.1 miles of walking punctuated by periods of standing in place and a couple of periods of watching historic videos while seated. Dress according to the weather and your comfort and health needs, with good shoes for walking. And bring a water bottle please.
There are limited spots available for this event; register now to secure your spot.
Join us for this CT-VA FUNDRAISER, an opportunity to learn, connect, heal and grow together while investing in our young nonprofit. We look forward to being with you!
