In keeping with the spirit of Commencement, our May e-Bulletin offers reflections on the work of Bowdoin alumni and current students and demonstrates the powerful connections forged by the arts between generations. Learn more about the family of Winslow Homer through recently discovered correspondence between his young parents, shared with us by Kate McKee ’22. Paula Volent, Bowdoin’s legendary outgoing Chief Investment Officer, speaks to the importance of the arts in shaping and nurturing her career in an interview with Lucy Siegel ’22 and Claire Traum ’21. Inspired by the insights of Bowdoin students, R. Luke DuBois has created a new media portrait of DeRay Mckesson ’07, who will be recognized by Bowdoin with an honorary degree. Finally, we share a powerful homage to Dr. David C. Driskell H’89 provided by Dr. Julie McGee ’82 and invite you to support her efforts to honor this extraordinary artist and educator. As always, the e-Bulletin provides information on recent programs and an opportunity to take advantage of our upcoming virtual events.
We hope to see you again soon.
