The Ethics of Developing COVID-19 Treatments and Vaccination
Researchers and doctors around the world are in a race to save lives, not only through caring for patients sick with COVID-19, but in the hunt to discover an effective treatment or vaccine. In the rush to do science quickly, CMU ethicist Alex John London says it is easy to make mistakes. 

Carnegie Mellon Unveils Five Interactive COVID-19 Maps
CMU unveiled   COVIDcast, a collection of maps that displays real-time, daily information on symptoms, doctor visits, medical tests and browser searches related to COVID-19 conducted across the United States, including estimated disease activity at the county level.
The project is a collaboration between CMU researchers and Google, Facebook, Quidel Corp. and a national health system.

Alumni Spotlight: Connecting Families with Pets
During the pandemic, adoption and fostering rates are on the rise. CMU alumna and co-founder of animal welfare organization Fido Fixers, Lisa DiBenedetto Wysocki (DC 1979) helps connect family and friends to new pets — and making sure some shelter pets are even easier to adopt.

  • Mindfulness: David Creswell led a guided mindfulness meditation practice and discussion about the emerging science of how mindfulness meditation can reduce stress and improve health. It is now available as an on-demand video.
