As we move into the final few weeks of school, I hope that parents are able to still keep their Bronco motivated to complete the assignments teachers are posting.  As I've said before, it's not about the grades right now for most of our kids.  However, the impact of doing nothing or next to nothing will be detrimental in the long run.  HUGE THANKS to those parents who have continued to stay engaged and pushed their student to understand the benefits of doing this version of school right now.  I know it's tough and something that makes everyday life right now even more difficult, so again thanks.

At some point after June 1, we will be scheduling families by grade to come up to the school and do the following in a safe and social distancing manner.  Please be patient as we work out the details for a very different close out of school this year. A process for doing these end of year tasks will be sent out in the near future.
1.    Returning library books.
2.    Returning any textbooks or school owned novels.
3.    Returning athletic uniforms.
4.    Pick up their yearbook if purchased.
5.    Pick up the contents of each student's locker that will be bagged for them.
6.    Potentially return Chromebooks after June 9 (TBD)
7.    Returning instruments.

Lastly, each student will be receiving an end of year feedback form for each content area that will provide parents with information about how your student performed virtually in 4th quarter.  This will serve as the 4th quarter report card and will be placed in each students permanent cumulative folder as documentation of their participation and mastery of content provided during virtual learning.  Only Math 1, Math 2, and Spanish will have percentile grades entered into 4th quarter, which should be up-to-date- by Monday.  If your student is taking Math 1, Math 2, or Spanish, please check Power School to see what assignments they are missing that can improve their grade.

There are some big changes on the horizon for your Bailey PTSA beginning in the 2020-2021 school year!  This summer, the Bailey PTSA will transition to a PTSO (Officially, the Bailey Middle School Parent Teacher Student Organization). This transition will allow the group greater flexibility and autonomy and will ensure that your investments in Bailey stay within our school community. The new Bailey PTSO will continue to support and enhance the educational needs of our students by fostering relationships among the school, parents, teachers, and administration, and will strive to strengthen the educational experience offered at BMS by developing and supporting initiatives, projects, and programs that promote educational and personal development and provide resources to improve our school community.

The Executive Board and committee chairs are always a critical part of the PTSA's success, and next year that will be truer than ever, as the new PTSO takes root. We need enthusiastic, engaged, and dedicated parents (like you!) to get involved.  Below you will find details about our upcoming Zoom PTSA General  Meeting in June and our transition to a PTSO. You'll also find a  link to our nomination form with information about next year's Executive Board and committee chair vacancies. Please consider donating some of your time and talents with Bailey next year!

NOTICE TO ALL BAILEY MIDDLE SCHOOL PTSA MEMBERS

On June 8th, the PTSA will hold a virtual general meeting at 6:30pm via Zoom conference call. The purpose of the meeting is to a) provide an update on the 2019/2020 school year, b) vote to confirm the election of 2020/2021 officers and c) vote on the current Board resolution to dissolve the PTSA and replace it with a PTSO. We ask that all available association members and/or interested parties, attend this meeting to help us achieve a quorum and finalize these orders of business.  A Zoom meeting invitation will be distributed one week prior to this meeting.   If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]  .

BAILEY MIDDLE SCHOOL RESOLUTION RE: PTSA/PTSO

The following resolution has been proposed by the PTSA Board for your consideration:

Effective June 30, 2020 the PTSA at Bailey Middle School will be dissolved. The former association will be replaced by a Parent, Teacher, Student Organization (PTSO) with an establishment date of July 1, 2020. Under the current PTSA system, we are required to contribute a large portion of the membership fees collected each year to the state parent organization, NCPTA. This change to a PTSO will allow our organization to retain our membership dues and allocate them to initiatives that will benefit our school directly.
