SHARE:
With fall’s arrival comes the opportunity to share new acquisitions, new exhibitions, and new programming. Although the Museum galleries remain closed to the public, we are excited to be able to share access virtually! This month, acknowledging this bicentennial year of Maine statehood, we look back on how this state pictured itself during its first century through the art of lithography with the release of a great new book and an upcoming presentation on October 8th by Maine State Historian Earle Shettleworth Jr. Mindful of the health crisis facing our own society, Sean Burrus turns to art historian and BCMA Advisory Council member George Keyes for his reflections on an exciting new gift to the collection, a seventeenth-century painting commenting on medicine of the past. As always, creative practice provides invaluable insights and inspiration. To this end, Elizabeth Humphrey sets the stage for the Museum’s launch, on October 24th, of Virtual Family Saturdays! In addition to these offerings, we hope you will find time to take advantage of the Museum’s many digital resources. We look forward to seeing you online!
