SUMMER BREAK IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER

DON'T MISS OUT ON A SUMMER OF FUN AT OUR PFC SUMMER CAMP!!!!!!!
Dear Member, Stakeholder, Supporter,
As a Club we continue to make steady steps out of the pandemic, and like many organizations this can be a slow recovery. The subsequent dome collapse made our situtation a lot more challenging for staff and board and we are grateful for the support and the buy-in from our members who have stuck with us every step of the way. It's at times like this when you're able to take a small step back and breathe that you can appreciate the community around you and the culture that times of adversity can build.

Last week we had incredibly sad news that one of our U15 Recreational players, Lulu Sibanda had passed away at the side of the field at his very first practice for the season. His father and team parents were there at pitch side to look after him until medical help could arrive. We are heartbroken and have reached out to the family in their time of grief to show our support and will be paying tribute in our own PFC way to him.

Last week we were connected with Vintage Vendors in Ajax. You may recall they were based at the Pickering Flea Market until the pandemic forced the closure of the facility. Now located on Monarch Avenue in Ajax they wanted to honour the memory of their founder Henry Jones and his wish was to make a donation to a local soccer club. Henry had a huge passion for soccer and believed in the value that sport has to build young healthy minds and bodies. We were privileged to meet some of the Vintage Vendor staff at their location and receive a cheque this week.

After 8 weeks of fun through our multi-sport program at childcare centres in Pickering, we are more than happy to have lived this experience alongside amazing educators, coaches, and over 110 children!

A huge thank you to the pioneers of this initiative; Preschool Canada, Great Beginnings Child Care Centre, Edukids Child Care Centres Glenanna, and Seaton Valley Childcare who allowed PFC to carry on fun sessions each week for children from 3 to 5 years. The kids learned/explored new skills associated with sports such as soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and badminton. We were so proud to witnesses day-by-day how the kids were demonstrating a development in their skills, not only physical but also social.

PFC is working hand-in-hand with the Ontario Trillium Foundation to reach out to more Child Care Centres in the Durham Region so we can get more children active for life.

Thank you Jumpstart!!!
We are pleased to share that the PFC All Abilities program has been selected by @CTJumpstart to receive a Summer Community Development Grant. These funds help community sport organizations like ours continue to provide access to sport and play for Canadian kids.

Jumpstarts generosity allows us to continue to provide quality programming to our amazing athletes. Click the image below to see the impact that their support has had on our athletes, families, volunteers, staff and club.
Logan Learns to Play
Logan longs to play soccer when he sees his classmates playing out on the field. Kicking the ball with his walker seems like a daunting task as he has grown up with Cerebral Palsy. When he is introduced to an inclusive and accessible All Abilities program, he finds himself surrounded by a community of friends, family and fun.

Logan Learns to play can be purchased at the Pickering Soccer Centre or via Amazon Canada for $15.00. Shipping is extra.

To purchase from the Pickering Soccer Centre, please contact Tammy at 905-831-9803 x 207, or email her at allabilities@pickeringfc.ca.
