"Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God.”
— Psalm 42:5-6

CUAA’s new banner (right) with this year’s theme, “Enduring HOPE,” based on Psalm 42. | |
Dear fellow alumni,
I recently heard a children’s message about hope. The teacher showed a series of photos, asking the kids if they ever hoped for things like a new bicycle, a new videogame, or a new puppy. You should have heard their squeals when she showed a picture of Disney World and asked how many of them hoped they could go there on vacation! The teacher then explained the difference between a wish and hope. A wish may or may not come true, but our hope in God is a certain fact because of what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross. Through His death and victorious resurrection, we have enduring hope of salvation and life everlasting. Thanks be to God!
President Erik Ankerberg preached on this theme during our opening chapel service August 28 to begin our 61st academic year. Later this month, we will be celebrating eight days of events in Mequon and Ann Arbor to mark his inauguration. There are plenty of activities to choose from, both in person and via livestream. If any of you plan to be on campus Tuesday, October 3, let me know and I’ll meet you in the cafeteria where we will be featuring Dr. Ankerberg’s favorite foods for lunch!
A new academic year comes with lots of things to do, and you’re always welcome here. Keep scrolling for details on homecoming, games, plays, concerts, and more!
God’s blessings,

Grand opening fundraiser benefits Earhart Manor Endowment
October 15
| |
In 2018, CUAA graciously received a collection of 34 historical paintings donated by art collector and long-time Ann Arbor resident, James Irwin. These paintings lived in the Kreft gallery for a time, before they were moved to their permanent home in the Earhart Manor. Next month, visitors are invited to tour the collection on Sunday, October 15, during a grand opening hosted by the Concordia Guild. All funds raised from the event will support the Earhart Manor Endowment.

Final Thought from
Campus Pastor Randy Duncan
|
Each morning during the school year, our campus pastor, Randy Duncan, sends out an email full of inspirational thoughts, concepts to ponder, scripture, and prayer requests. We thought we would share some of his thoughts with you each month for us to contemplate.
Final thought: This year’s CUAA theme is “Enduring Hope,” based upon Psalm 42. The thought behind this is that no matter the hardships and struggles that we have to endure, we have a greater enduring hope based upon the presence and promises of Jesus.
