Upcoming Facility Holiday Hours and Closures

Los Altos City Hall and most City facilities and departments will be closed Tuesday, December 24, through Wednesday, January 1, 2025. The Los Altos Community Center will have modified hours. Police and emergency services remain available 24 hours a day.

Los Altos City Council Appoints New Mayor & Vice Mayor

On Tuesday, December 10, the oath of office was administered to Pete Dailey as the new mayor of Los Altos and to Neysa Fligor as the new vice mayor. Mayor Dailey and Vice Mayor Fligor will serve in these respective capacities through the beginning of December 2025. The meeting summary is online.

Los Altos City Council Approves Restrictions on Single-Use Plastic Foodware

The City Council approved an ordinance Tuesday night to reduce plastic waste by limiting single-use plastic foodware at food businesses. Effective in phases throughout 2025, dine-in orders must be served with reusables, while takeout must be served in compostable or aluminum containers.

Recruitment for Multiple Commissions Closes This Week

Several commissions and committees currently have vacancies. These appointed bodies advise the Los Altos City Council and have four-year terms (unless noted otherwise). Applications are due Friday, December 20, at 5 PM.

Los Altos Police Announces New Security Camera Registry

The Los Altos Police Department launched a new security camera registry to enhance public safety. Residents and businesses are encouraged to register their security cameras, which indicates willingness to share footage if needed for an investigation.
