FEI - St. Louis is the premier organization for financial executives in the St. Louis area.

Event Highlights and Details

FEI-St. Louis members met at Marriott Maryville Center for the September Dinner and Speaker Event, which featured former DEA agent Joe Cronin (left) and DEA supervisor Jack Riley (right).

Cronin and Riley shared insights into their experiences as drug enforcement agents and their knowledge of the dangerous and sophisticated cartels that are a threat to the US. Because of its central location and global business connections, St. Louis plays a part in the nefarious operations of these groups.

For more information specifically on their involvement in capture of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán Loera, check out Jack Riley's book, Drug Warrior: Inside the Hunt for El Chapo and the Rise of America's Opioid Crisis.

Member Spotlight:

Richard Angevine, CFO Wentzville Public School District

The October Member Spotlight shines on Richard Angevine, CFO for the Wentzville R-IV School District, one of the largest and fastest-growing school districts in the state. During Rick’s tenure through the pandemic the District has grown by over 1,000 students, has built or expanded 5 schools through the issuance of a $105 million general obligation bond, experienced clean third party audits, and reduced tax rates. The District has a balanced budget, a fully funded five year capital maintenance plan, and a solid cash balance. Rick is most proud of the Districts' ability to have completed the last 10 construction projects on time and under budget despite the effects of the COVID pandemic.

For Rick, FEI-St. Louis is more than just another place to gather information. He enjoys the variety of subjects and speakers at the events. “Each event seems to have its own unique purpose, which can include updates on the latest financial topics, learning about what is happening in St. Louis, discussing common issues among financial peers, or just enjoying entertaining topics which result in great networking opportunities.”

Additionally, the professional contacts he’s made through FEI have made it an organization he believes can benefit financial leaders in a unique way. “Sue Hites invited me to a meeting to see what FEI was all about. I decided to join after I was introduced to great professional contacts which were not included in other business circles. I later became the Membership Chair for the St. Louis Chapter.” Rick also appreciates the local chapter’s sponsors, who “understand the daily issues we face.”

In his personal life, Rick enjoys being active. He runs, bikes, and spends quality time with his grandchildren. In quieter moments, he likes a good game of chess. As of June 30, 2024, he’ll have a little more time to enjoy his hobbies because he’s retiring from his job as CFO.

Rick is just one of the many financial leaders who make FEI-St. Louis the premier organization for financial executives in the St. Louis area.
