This weekend we are proud to represent our Club as part of the annual Ontario Soccer Summit which this year will be held in Ottawa. Technical and administrative staff will be in attendance and learning from experts in coach education, strategic planning, Women in Sport, and Safe Sport. This event is the only one of its kind for soccer professionals in Canada and a valuable opportunity to learn and network. We are excited to see our own Grassroots Director, Hollie Babut invited to deliver a session on Saturday afternoon, while Executive Director Matt Greenwood will talk about accessible soccer on stage at the same time. Pickering FC also has the largest representation outside of the host city.
The dome rebuild has had a short delay this week due to the removal of our standpipes. You may recall we had six large yellow boxes at the edge of the fields which housed a standpipe and fire hose. We are pleased to confirm that the City of Pickering Fire Chief has approved the removal of the boxes and they will now be located below the turf surface and make the spectator area less cramped. We now expect the turf professionals to start installation this coming week.
Recreational registration continues to grow and we encourage members to get booked in as soon as you can. This helps with team building and schedules but also our planning with the City for field locations. Don't forget we are the only soccer club in Durham Region offering a game and a practice at Recreational levels from U7 and up. With 8-12 years of age being described as the 'Golden Age of Learning' it makes perfect sense to get them even more touches on the ball doesn't it?
